Why do the training?
This training is an annual requirement for all Western students, faculty and staff.
Western’s digital infrastructure contains important and sometimes very sensitive information relating to our Academic and Research activities. Understanding cybersecurity is essential, not just to protect yourself, but to help keep Western’s entire community safe. Just like staying home when you are sick benefits others, improving your online safety practices helps protect everyone around you - it is a shared responsibility that involves everyone in our campus community.
What is the training platform?
Western has partnered with MetaCompliance to provide the Western community with CyberSmart Training. This training is designed to highlight cybersecurity best practices on a variety of subjects including using strong passwords to recognizing phishing attacks. This information will help you to do your part in assisting Western to ensure that our digital infrastructure and assets are managed safely and securely. This training module takes approximately 30 minutes to complete but does not need to be completed in one session. That is, if you leave the module midway, you may continue later. A certificate will be issued provided you pass the evaluation with a minimum score of 80%.
